Prototypes

In the end, we all need connection.  That is what Sean and I discovered as we considered the task of the Stamford D School Crash Course.  We were set to work on understanding each other's gift giving, what we get out of it, what we give out of it, and how to improve the outcome.  As we learned more about each other, we realized that what we really valued was the time we gave to one another.  For him, taking his mom to her favorite restaurant, spending time catching up, was something he looked forward to every year.  Realizing that he didn't have to wait a year to connect with someone he still lives with, that he wants to engage with, was powerful for him to realize.  Like Sean, I came to a similar conclusion about my own needs.  Shopping with my daughter, and the time we spent together, had more value than what we were looking for.

Sean made a movie theater for me (pictured right).  I made a house (above), with a front porch for him.  We both made something we can do, right now, with our loved ones, in order to meet that need of connection.
